» Less Holy Cr**p, More Phew! from Letters from Lex
I just got a voice mail from a friend who just read the original HOLY CR**P posting and wanted to know where things stood. Were the cops right? Was this message actually for me? Had I, somehow, stepped over that [Read More]

Quick update - I called the cops in K'ton and have given them the details. That way if it happens again I won't have to explain why I didn't call the first time.

Stressfully enough, both the police officers I spoke with asked me "why would you think it wasn't for you?" And my immediate response of "why would it be for me?" didn't seem to cut the mustard. "Well, he called your phone..." was the response.

So, while I can explain fairly logically why it might not be for me, it still kind of shakes me up when people, especially cops, keep assuming some guys is actually uttering death threats intended for me. spooky.

Lex

oh, and it makes my "too many doughnuts in the bag" complaint seem pretty damned trivial.

A week after I got my new rogers phone I started to get 1AM booty calls from a drunk guy. Funny.

Yours ain't so funny. You did the right thing.

Lex

thanks. New cell phone number (as of 2 months ago) was one of my primary reasons for believing it wasn't for me.

While I've never gotten "free" booty calls, I did regularly get calls for an escort with one new number and for drug delivery with another.

But the cops in K'ton didn't quite get the cell phone aspect of this whole thing.

Yesterday another cop called and told me they'd called the inbound number my phone stored, and it was a boarding house who were uncooperative. My response was "Really?!? How shocking." (note the sarcasm), and "GEEZE, please don't put me at risk!!!!"

roro

Holy crap indeed! I totally would have called the cops - good job. I'm sure it was just some random guy, either being a jerk or calling the wrong number, but scary all the same. When we finally meet for brunch, I'll be sure to bring my knuckle dusters for you.

In other news, I keep coming late to all this drama because Bloglines keeps pretending you haven't updated your blog. Stupid Bloglines . . . clearly, I will have to get tough with it.

Lex

roro -- just leave it a message referencing the Sopranos a couple of times, that'll get it's attention. re: brunch - well, I'll believe it when I eat it. ;->

roro

Oh, Lex of little faith. Brunch is like the tooth fairy - once you start to doubt her, she has a harder time finding your house.

I'm off to send a threatening message to Bloglines.
