As of June 2007, all miniBookExpo posts have been moved to their very own blog www.minibookexpo.com, please come on over and Claim it - Read it - Blog it ]
What you are looking at here is old!
Anyone who has heard me talk about BookExpo knows that one of the perks of this trade show is the books. Stacks of books. So many books that your arms and back hurt from carrying around the books. And that's if you're not trying to get books. If you are working it, well, you'd better have eaten your Wheaties.
The primary purpose of the BookExpo trade show is for publishers to promote their authors and titles to the Book Selling community. In actuality, it turns into maze of lineups and a feeding frenzy of free books.
However, you don't have to be a bookseller to end up with books. Lots of books.
This year, I got a number of titles which I probably won't read. So, since the purpose of the free books is to get some Word of Mouth going... I have decided to set up

Chris Elliot - The Shroud of the Thwacker. Great idea and so generous. Thanks, Lex!!

Kate, no problemo. However, since I've attempted to read Shroud of the Thwacker, I must insist that you select a second book as well.
Oh, and please spread the word - free books at unsweetened.ca. I really do want these books to go to good homes!

It's like you're a book pusher.
I'll do The Taker or Isabel's Bed.
Or both.
Because I have NO other books to read. Right, Roro?
Posted by: Kate Trgovac | June 19, 2006 at 12:51 PM
Kate - I am a total book pusher and proud of it.
Now, Roro, what's your pleasure?
Posted by: Lex | June 19, 2006 at 01:23 PM
Hi Alexia. I work with Kate and I’d be interested in reading and reviewing Rabindranath Maharaj’s A Perfect Pledge. Thanks for spreading the wealth.

I'm a sucker for trashy autobiographies - especially of celebs or so-called celebs- the Sharon Osbourne book sounds like a good summer read on the deck - thanks, if it's still available (I know the demand for this one will be huge)....al.

How could I resist THE GRAYS by crazy old Whitley Strieber?
Posted by: Deadrobot | June 19, 2006 at 04:48 PM
Done, done and done.
Posted by: Lex | June 19, 2006 at 05:17 PM
Ooo! So many books! And it's true; we don't have NEARLY enough here to keep Kate occupied. I'll take Bleed, by Laurie Stolarz. Yes, that's right.

The beach-readin' side of me has a niggling interest in Wife Living Dangerously. HOWEVER, it doesn't make me less annoyed at publisher's overuse of shoe imagry on so-called "chick lit."
Whassup with that? I mean hey, I like shoes. But do they belong on cover art? I think not.

Beach-Readin' on it's way.
Feel free to share your cover comments with Warner Books.
Cover art, an intersting topic. Are there overused images or design themes in other genres? hummmm. makes you think.

How about Revenge? (the book not the act, don't worry ers!) ...serves me right for only checking the unclaimed list and not the comments.
