Yes, the feast of all feasts is coming and I'm already salivating. Turkey - yum! Cranberry sauce - extra yum! Potatoes - yum! Apple in any and all forms - yum yum yum!
Our menu this year is going to include some long time favourites:
- Turkey w/ garlic molasses glaze
- Pepper Cornbread stuffing
- Cranberry sauce w/ orange zest (sadly, we'll have to do without Roth's fresh cranberry relish)
- Riced Potatoes
- Candied Yams (courtesy of M.Tinto)
- Baked Squash w/ brown sugar
And I can't wait.

My favorite is sweet potatoes with marshmellows on top. My tummy is gurgling.........

I haven't decided what I'm making yet. I'm not a fan of turkey, except for deep-fried, and I'm not cooking for a lot of people since my parents live too far way to be with. Last year I did a sort of Oktoberfest Thanksgiving, with bratwurst and cabbage and fried potatoes and homemade macaroni and cheese. Okay, that's not really German, but it went with the rest of the dishes quite nicely. Also, there was lots of beer.

that sounds good - though perhaps for Xmas. I'm a traditionalist w/ Thanksgiving. So much so that I've given Xmas dinner menu selection to Gerry & Mom, so I get my turkey fix on Thanksgiving.
Xmas dinner gets pretty exciting with them scheming the main elements of the meal and then telling me what I'm cooking while we're in the grocery store picking things up. But hey - I get my Thanksgiving turkey so it's a fair swap.
