Seriously! This cherry was served along with my lunch today - the Ham & Mango Temptation Panini at the Ottawa General Hospital today. Luckily not to the patients... Lovely Rosalie got beige food - some wet instant breakfast thing, Banana Bonanza Pudding, tea and milk. So I snuck her out of her room and dragged her down to the cafeteria for a real lunch - coffee and chocolate, while I grabbed a sandwich.
The panini was quite good - sliced ham, provolone, mango chutney and grilled pinapple on a rosemary foccaccia.
But that blue cherry?!?!? They must have a colour blind dietician.

Blue cherry! It was edible? It almost looks like a fake plastic version of a cherry. In fact, I thought it was a fake plastic cherry when I saw the photo!

It was real. As to whether it was "edible" or not... well... I admit I've eaten some weird food in the past, but there was NO WAY in hell I was going to ingest that. It glowed. I didn't even touch it with the tip of my tongue to taste it. I did however take it up to my friend's hospital room to get better light for a photo shoot before pitching it in the trashcan down the hall. I didn't want it expiring and releasing noxious gas in her room.

I guess I'm the only person who see's this and really really really wants to eat it?
