#23 Define Your Inscrutables

Layers of Lex

It's so easy to whip up a detailed life history of the annoying cashier who jams household cleaner on top of your lettuce.  To succinctly outline all the parental influences & progressions of damage that has made them the surly beasts they are today. 

So why is it that when it comes to writing a short bio for yourself it takes 2 full days of hair pulling, calling in favours and pepto-swilling?

Attempts to start included:

• Lex - foodie, blogger, x-geek, cheapeater...
• All the influences in her life conspired to make Lex a foodie...
• Lex was raised in a market...
• From bunching beans to dining with dignitaries...
• All her earliest memories involve food...
• Lex started working in the food industry at the age of 5...
• Lex's first pet Rosemary the lamb... also very tasty.
• Food, it's all about exploration...
• Lex's culinary adventures started early one Sunday morning...

I did eventually succeed in getting a bio crafted, and I'll tell you why and where it is once it gets posted.

Hm ... you left out the part about the 500 Watt radio station in Fresno, California.

I have no clue what your comment is in reference to, but having been to Fresno several times, I wouldn't be surprised if all they had was a 500 watt radio station...

:-) ... I just tried googling the phrase "It all started in a 500 Watt radio station in Fresno" and ... it worked! Which is to say that google found references to Ted Baxter from the Mary Tyler Moore show. Every time I am asked to write some little blurb about myself (not that often, trust me), the image of Ted the pompous airbag pops into my head, leaning on a file cabinet or tipping back on his heels, with the phrase, "It all started in a 500 watt radio station in Fresno, California ..." and all who were within earshot would roll their eyes and walk away.  Especially Murray.

But Lex is neither pompous nor an airbag, as evidenced by her failure to begin in either this manner, or with "It was a dark and stormy night ..."  At least I certainly hope she didn't start that way.

Eagerly waiting to hear why you needed to prepare a short bio ... which will be infinitely more interesting that either the cashier's or Ted Baxter's. :-)
