Waking up with a blinding headache this morning... pissed me off.

The loud noise the fax machine made when I turned it on to fax my accountant early this morning... pissed me off.

The first and second message from my accountant looking for documents that should already be in the 2003 files but now I'll have to locate and dig out of the "archives" aka the hell that is our sunroom... pissed me off.

The low speed of our high speed access from Bell ... pissed me off.

The lack of any amusing or charming emails in my inbox... pissed me off.

My cell phone delivering 3 IMs all at once. All time sensitive. All from last night... pissed me off.

Having to do just 1 more thing before I can leave the office by 10am and it taking me until 11:30... pissed me off.

My photobank dying with 30G of pictures on it and not enough space to  back it up anywhere even though I knew, KNEW, I was at risk... pissed me off.

Putting on my pants and realizing I look... hey... I look great today. They didn't piss me off at all.

Stash Swap

Is your stash feeling a little untended?

Need a little summertime yarn fix?

Got an urge to knit somewhere with AC?

Then you want to come over tomorrow night!

I'm holding the first ever Girls of Excess Stash Swap.

In truth, it's more of a Stash Giveaway than a Stash Swap because I have 5 boxes filled with cones yarn and by the end of the night I want to have it all gone. 

There's some silk and... well, I'm not sure what the rest of it is. Maybe wool, maybe blend. But what ever it is, it's perfect for your next project!  Or for the new knitter in your family.  Or for tying up your tomato plants...

Please just come and take it away! 

Bring a friend. Bring your knitting and stay for a while, or just snag a couple of cones for your next project. Either way, please help me get this yarn gone so Gerry will stop nagging me about it. 

p.s. If you bring something to swap, I will force you to take the same number of cones home with you. You think I'm kidding. I'm not kidding.

I'm not Hyperlexic, I'm just Lex

I just got the following from my friend Rohan.  I couldn't resist sharing. (after asking permission of course)

Lex, I just came across the term "hyperlexic". 

According to Wikipedia, "Hyperlexia is a condition in which the main characteristics are an above average ability to read accompanied with a below average ability to understand spoken and/or written language."

But I have two alternate meanings:

1.  Someone who is hyperlexic has extreme similarities with Lex Clark
(hyper lexic = hyper Lex-like = extremely Lex-like).

2.  Someone who is hyperlexic is like an agitated Lex Clark
(hyperlex ic = like a hyperlex = like a hyper Lex).

Inspired by andrea's recent post with the same title (different punctuation), and for my own amusement, I decided it was time to get this blog rated.

"This rating was determined based on the presence of the following words:

• dead (3x)
• hell (1x)"

If I'm getting PG from that, I'm wondering what some of my reading list will get rated.  So I'm tagging: creampuff, deadrobot, m.tinto, Venus and ScribeMama.

Here's What I Want

I want:

• a spam filter that will pre-screen all the annoying a#k!*U&@*^@*~@#)*s who are filling up my CheapEats databases with restaurant recommendations for places named "Free Ring Tones", "Viagra" and "kdfjkdjfkdeoerpdl"
• a query to help me clean up the 3,000+ restaurant recommendations that are probably all spam, but might actually be real just badly spelled like "michovols", "amadeuos", "beckta" and "willlys".  What's spam? What's real?
• a way to demonstrate to young, smart and industrious but green marketers from overseas that spam is not a viable marketing technique for CheapEats... even if you call it "mailings".
• Oh - and a crap-load of new Ottawa restaurant comments... valid ones.  I'm tired of getting all excited when I see "387 new comments" only to find out 384 are spam, 2 are empty and 1 is someone saying how awful their experience at xxx was. Sigh...

Someone, please, tell me about good, happy making, restaurant experience.  Someone? Anyone? Please? 

It doesn't even have to be cheap... just don't tell me you ordered spam.
